Scoutings’ Global Spirit Celebrated Around the Campfire at Armidale

Around 60 people gathered at 2nd Armidale Scout Shed to celebrate World Scout Day on a crisp Armidale evening. Cubs, Scouts, Venturer’s , Rovers and Leaders gathered with supporters and families to renew our scout promise, acknowledge the service of Sarah Murray (Special Service Award), Lando Warner (Silver Wattle) and Rex Harper (Special Service Award), and invest new Assistant Scout Leader, Pete Murphy. Following the formalities there were skits and songs presented by cubs and scouts then we all enjoyed a campfire cooked meal of apricot chicken, baked potatoes, smores, and roasted marshmallows. We were joined by Graeme Fordham, a former Scout Leader at 2nd Armidale and former Chief Commissioner of NSW, who represented RC Brett Grimmond and presented the service awards. The evening was organised and run by Badger (Mark Shepheard), Group Leader at 2nd Armidale. A great and relaxed evening was enjoyed by all! Softly falls the light of day, as our campfire fades away, silently each scout should ask, have I done my daily task? Have I kept my honour today? have I done and have I dared? Everything to be prepared?
