Scout Activity Notification Forms

There are a few activity notification forms for scouts out there at the moment. This is a summary of what they are and when they are due. The group system with these forms is that they need to be returned to the scout leader with payment (cash, cheque, or EFT) and the group then sends off a cheque and all the forms to the activity organiser. This means that the closing date for forms and payment to the group is usually one week earlier than the closing date on form. This gives us time to organise a cheque and send the forms and payment off to the activity organiser by the due date. Current activity forms are (click on the link to take you to the form):

Youth Abseil June 2015 This activity is being held at Kamilaroi scout camp (near Copeton Dam) on Saturday 21 and Sunday 21 June 2015. This will need to be returned to the scout leader in Armidale by Wednesday 3 June 2015.

Pre Jamboree Camp pdf This activity is being held during the school holidays at Narrabri show ground. Scouts going to the jamboree must attend. This form and payment needs to be returned to the scout leader by Wednesday 3 June 2015.

State Scout Rally 2015 #1 This rally is being held from Fri 31 July to Sunday 2 August 2015. Applications need to be returned to the scout leader with payment by Wednesday 17 June 2015.

If you have specific questions about these activities please contact your scout leader or the activity organiser whose details are on the form.

Happy scouting,

Scouts at ANZAC Day 2015

2nd Armidale cubs and scouts were well represented at the Armidale ANZAC Day parade this year. Our group was also joined in the march by a venturer and rover form the Lone’s Scout Group. Participants can use this march toward the ‘Their Service – Our Heritage’ Award. Please check your award scheme record books for the requirements. In addition to this award badge, there is a ANZAC Centenary commemorative blanket badge that the group is getting for each member.

2nd Armidale Participation in ANZAC Day

Marchers to assemble in Curtis Park between Dumaresq St. and Dumaresq Creek at 09:45. Some scouts will be needed to carry identification placards for the various groups in the parade. Scouts Armidale also has a group position in the parade (following the Red Cross and before the SES according to the plan I have).

The parade commences at 10:30 and will move South (uphill) along Faulkner Street to Central Park. The commemoration service will commence at 11:00 in Central Park and the scout group will be laying a wreath. This year our wreath has been made by our group secretary (thank you Sarah!). The service will conclude by 12:00 and this will also be the end of the scout activity.

Scouts will be assembled as a group near the cenotaph to be picked up. From 12:00 there will be a BBQ in Central Park, a static military equipment display, the town band and pipe band will be playing and there will be a variety of activities for children. The RSL is encouraging families to stick around and enjoy this part of the day. Please note that leaders will not be providing supervision for scouts during the Central Park activities that occur after the formal ceremonies end at noon. The activity coordinator and another leader or adult will remain with scouts near the cenotaph until all have been returned to parents. In the event of wet weather, there is a wet weather plan to hold the ceremonies in the auditorium of the Ex-Services Club.

Uniform: Please wear your scout shirt and scarf. Cream or bone pants if you have them. If not, please wear blue jeans or navy blue pants. Please wear black or brown shoes and wear a wide brim hat.

Any questions please contact the Group Leader, Mark Shepheard: or phone details on the form.
